My gratitude experiment (part 5)

Hello!

My name’s Emma (18) and I’m taking part in the Being Grateful experiment. The idea is to spend a few minutes every day for a week to think about what you’re grateful for and see the difference that can make. This is the fifth post of a short series on what being grateful means to me.

So here goes!

Tuesday

I am grateful that my mum understands me.

I’m an argumentative person and one with probably too many options but I’m lucky that my mum always listens to me. Whether I’m ranting about politics, religion or just the world in general and I do it a lot. After I’ve finished yelling about the world we always talk about it, she tells me ways to make my argument stronger so I can make my point with others and hopefully one day to make a difference. I will always be grateful to my mum.

I grateful for my favourite band.

Honestly I’m surprised I made it to the 5th day before I mentioned them! My favourite band are American pop punkers All Time Low and they mean so much to me. Without them I wouldn’t know my best friend and I don’t know where I’d be without her, without them I wouldn’t have a guaranteed smile in my music library and I know without them I wouldn’t be who I am today. Today was just one of those days where they made me smile for no reason, they’re just being themselves it enough to bring a smile to my face. I love them so damn much, they’re my boys, my idiots and my heroes.

Reflection: How do you take time in your day to practice being grateful? It's five minutes of your day that can make you smile. Try it even on your worst days, there’ll be something.
