A study showed a group of volunteers who were asked to merely think about practicing a piano-piece with their right hand. They played the simple piece of music in their head, holding their hands still while imagining how they would move their fingers. After a week of "practicing" scientists saw that the region of motor cortex that controls the piano-playing fingers expanded in the brains of the volunteers who just imagined playing the music! Amazing stuff, huh?
